Since 2019, the Chinese government has clearly proposed the establishment of the information-based drug traceability system, which is widely applied in the whole society and featured as interconnection, sharing and efficient coordination of all varieties and whole process. With a series of policies and regulations released, the specific provisions are made in view of the information-based drug traceability system issues such as "what to do", "how to do", implementation time, etc.

The change of data storage and structure is the core content for establishment of the new information-based drug traceability system. The latest “Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Drug Production” will be implemented from July 1, 2020. After implementation of the new regulation, the enterprise drug traceability data will be uniformly stored by the national collaboration/supervision platform.
